Today year 3 have been working on their mathematical explanation and reasoning skills. We have looked at different challenges and tried to solve them in groups using facts we already know and a given criteria. The children have worked hard together and have solved the challenges using different methods. Year 3 were given no help in solving these challengers and would like to see if you can complete one using your own reasoning skills.
Challenge
Take 5 coins 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p
Put them in a row using these clues.
- The total of the first three coins is 27p
- The total of the last three coins is 31p
- The last coin is double the value of the first coin.
