They literally walked in the footsteps of Victorian children who attended more than a hundred years ago.
The children stayed in character all day and enjoyed an arithmetic lesson, a handwriting lesson and reading lesson in the morning. Unfortunately some of the characters were not so well behaved and had to suffer the Victorian punishments.
Others though proved themselves to be a credit and earned rewards.
After lunch children took part in different activities such as washing (with carbolic soap), cleaning out the range, carpet beating and playing with the Victorian toys in the shop.
The children learnt so much from these first hand experiences about life as a Victorian child. I think the majority of them prefer school today I’m pleased to say.
