Year 3 have learned all about how volcanoes erupt. In this project, the children learned about the world beneath their feet and found out the answers to such questions. By looking at the layers of the Earth, and learning about tectonic plates, they found out why some areas of the world are more prone to earthquakes and why volcanoes are found in some areas and not others. They also learned that there are different types of rock, which are formed under different conditions. The children explored the impact on human life that natural disasters can have, including the historic volcanic eruption in Pompeii.
